Remix Rollerdisco

A brand new stage for Glade 2012, this one’s going to rival The Dance Off in the ridonculous behaviour and down-right-good-times stakes.
It’s not often that a whole venue is purpose built from Wood and Canvas for a bunch of demented musicians and Glade – di – ators but that is the remix Roller Disco. All day and all weekend the sounds of 1920 – 1950`s will be remixed to sounds of ball bearings and roller skates. Bring your own or get them here!
You’ve heard of electro swing- and there’ll be plenty of that. Throughout the weekend Continental Drifts (from Shangri La’s Club Dada and Electro Swing Club London ) will curate vintage remixed sounds , starting Friday with a whole night run by Dutty Moonshine, Saturday  Electro Swing London with acts from all over Europe.
You probably haven’t heard of Hoe-step, Tech-down or Barn-core. For the Sunday Glade HQ is going all out in challenging our friends at Cut a Shine Hoe Down to not only develop groundbreaking new genres of music, but to perform them on roller skates. You think it sounds bonkers? It sounds brilliant- just you wait…

THURSDAY: Comedy at Glade!

On Thursday night Secret Forum brings cult smash hit PLEB Talks to the Glade - unconventional wisdom from a host of unacademic minds, tackling the topic of ‘The Future’. This is chin stroking but not as you know it. Expect to laugh, not necessarily to learn.

Academic Host:

Nish Kumar - One half of acclaimed sketch duo the Gentlemen of Leisure. “Rising Star” Time Out. ’Ludicrously charming, razor sharp’ Spoonfed

The Lord of Time:

Ben Target - Winner of the 2011 Leicester Mercury Comedian Of The Year

Speakers:

Nick Sun - So You Think You’re Funny Winner. “If you don’t enjoy Nick Sun, it’s because you suck as an audience.’ – Doug Stanhope

Matt Highton - “Something quite special” – Chortle

Stuart Laws - “laughs come thick and fast…definitely one to watch” Fest Mag. “He engages with people masterfully and the whole thing feels impulsive and original”. New Kid review

John Kearns - ‘Truly unique, a joy to behold, possibly the most offensive comedian I’ve ever seen’ Broadway Baby.

Keynote Speaker:

Phil Kay - British Comedy Awards Winner

JFB. www.myspace.com/jfbdj This is an artist who’s fully immersed in bass culture, and just as happy spinning hip-hop or jungle as he is breakbeat and dubstep.

Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer. www.gentlemanrhymer.com Mr.B brings you Chap-Hop, re-acquainting Hip-Hop with the Queen’s English from whence it came. His legendary live recitals have earned him plaudits, largely from top shelf gentlemen’s quarterlies.

The McMash Clan. www.myspace.com/themcmashclan The Clan craft heavy bass music designed to destroy main room dance floors. Hands in the air screw face stompers which crunch together dubstep, D&B, techno, jungle, moombahton, hardcore and world music influences.
